The Broadmoor forged an iconic partnership with Cadillac
more than 70 years ago. Exclusively with Automodello, The Broadmoor proudly celebrates the renewal of that relationship
as Cadillac is once again the Official Vehicle of The Broadmoor.
In May of 1935, Broadmoor founder Spencer Penrose purchased
Gray Line Motor Tours and 35 “open and closed vehicles” that were chartered to
take guests around the Pikes Peak region. At that time, Gray Line had the
largest fleet of Cadillacs in the world. The 1937 Flat Head V-8 Cadillac Touring
Car was acquired by Spencer Penrose as part of the hotel’s personal limousines
for transportation of guests. These beautifully appointed vehicles were always
available for guests to view the popular mountain attractions. From 1940 to
1961, Cadillac sedans were exclusively used at The Broadmoor.
The Broadmoor's fully restored 1937 Cadillac was discovered in Arizona
in 2013. One of the original Broadmoor 1937 Flat Head V-8’s, it even had the
original Broadmoor / Gray Line upholstery. The Broadmoor purchased and shipped
it back to Colorado Springs where it was returned to pristine condition by a
company that specializes in vintage vehicles.
