Official Release Date: October 17th 2013
Keeping with the standards set by Automodello with their previous releases, this Sunbeam Tiger is shipped with the removable hardtop. The exterior combination of Mediterranean Blue with Black Hardtop was chosen by the Sunbeam Tigers Owners Club (STOC) and this model is sold exclusively by STOC and Diecasm.
The steering wheel is on the side where most North Americans are most likely never to see it. Whilst the Tiger was derived from the Sunbeam Alpine, a definitively British car, the Sunbeam Tiger was originally released in 1964 for "export only" which also meant Left-Hand Drive. It wasn't until January 7th 1965 that the first Right-Hand Drive Sunbeam Tiger Mark I became available. In tribute to 1965, Automodello has limited production to 165 units for this STOC Tribute Edition.
Automodello is a manufacturer specializing in overlooked, neglected and interesting as well as new models from British, European, North American and other marques. Automodello's inagural 1/43 model was the 1964 Griffith Series 200 and 1/24 was the 1938 Phantom Corsair. The Sunbeam Tiger keeps with Automodello's tradition of releasing "hybrid" automobiles where American V8 power is mated to sexy British and European bodies.
