The Griffith Series 200 had introduced Griffith as a new contender to the sportscar title.  The Griffith Series 400 was meant to take the belt by knockout.  Staying true to the Series 200’s forte of razor-sharp handling and unparalleled power-to-weight ratio, the Series 400 added a host of refinements added by Mark Donohue, Griffith's Vice President for Engineering to further distinguish it as the performance car to beat.  The ultra-light TVR-sourced chassis benefited from the evolution from Mk III to Mk IV Grantura, improvements heralded by the handsome “Manx-tail” redesign and sloping rear glass.  The new look wasn’t just an aesthetic gain; the larger backlight dramatically increased the Griffith’s luggage capacity—yielding more room for Corvette and Cobra scalps!

In addition, many of the lessons Griffith learned during Series 200 production made their way into the Series 400, particularly in the areas of cooling and driveline durability.  And finally, the high-performance 271-horse Ford 289 V-8 was now standard equipment.  Backed exclusively by a close-ratio 4-speed, this potent combo made this the best Griffith yet when it came to humbling all comers at the track.

This 1:43 masterpiece will showcase what many consider to be the definitive Griffith model.  Bold, taut, aggressive; the Series 400’s British influence is unmistakable, but it carries an American brashness that makes performance promises only a machine as capable as the Griffith Series 400 could live up to.  Automodello™ is founded on a commitment to authenticity and the Series 400—like all models in the Griffith line—is officially endorsed by Andrew “Jack” Griffith himself.

April 13th 2011 Update
At this year's Ultimate Griffith Tribute at the Amelia Island Concours d' Elegance several Griffith Series 400 owners and enthusiasts expressed their desire to see this car produced to complete the series.  Automodello  has agreed to start planning based on Griffith Series 400 pre-orders placed through Diecasm.  If there is sufficient pre-order demand, then Automodello will produce this model sooner.
