Automodello™ is proud to announce the first ever 1:24 scale replica of “the smoothest brute on wheels” – the 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 7-Litre Hardtop! This will be an absolute must for both muscle car enthusiasts and model collectors alike, representing, as it does, an all-American car that’s sadly just not that easy to find anymore and one which has previously been unavailable scaled down for the display cabinet.
Hand built and finished to the very highest spec, the 1:24 model will be meticulously accurate and feature astonishing attention to detail. Indeed Automodello is so proud of the craftsmanship that’s gone into the interior, the driver’s side window is being modelled in the down position to afford a better view of this!
As was the case when buying the real car, Automodello will be offering its customers a number of finish options: Nightmist Blue (AM24-FOR-G7L-NB) with matching blue interior, of which there will be a build of up to 466 pieces will be priced at $299.95. Limited to just 66 pieces will be the Tribute Editions in three colors: Antique Gold with black interior (AM24-FOR-G7L-TE-AG), Candy Apple Red with black interior (AM24-FOR-G7L-TE-CA) or Wimbledon White with black interior (AM24-FOR-G7L-TE-WW) and, priced at $366. While the yet more exclusive Homage Edition, in Raven’s Black with tan interior (AM24-FOR-G7L-HE), is to being restricted to just 50 pieces, priced at $449.95 each. Whichever version decided upon though, this is going to be an important addition to the automotive historian’s collection.
The first half of the 1960s had been dominated by huge muscle cars with increasingly large power plants, but by the middle of the decade these dinosaurs were on their way out and it was the intermediate sized cars fitted with big bloc V8s that were rapidly becoming considered the hot ticket. Ford’s answer was to thoroughly redesign the Fairlane GT and GTA, and yet it was to launch another real bruiser of a car for the 1966 model year: the Galaxie 500 7-Litre.
The 7-Litre was made available only as a 2-door hardtop or as a convertible, in either automatic or 4-speed transmission, and considerately offered all the creature comforts of a luxury sedan, such as power steering, power brakes and air conditioning. Ford’s high performance 427 racing V8 could not provide these conveniences but its new, and more docile, high torque 428 could, making the car far more suited to every day driving. Most Ford Galaxie 500 7-Litres therefore, came equipped with the 428 and although the 427 was an option, just 36 hardtops and two convertibles left Ford’s factory with this more brutish V8.
Styling was kept clean and simple and while the 7-Litre nameplates were applied to the front bumpers (fenders), grille and boot (trunk) lid, the subtle use of chrome gave the car a fresh new look, although the interior was in fact identical to that used in Ford’s earlier Galaxie 500s, save for the 7-Litre badge located on the glove box door and seat belts fitted front and rear to comply with new US Government regulations introduced in 1966. In this, the year of its launch, and indeed the only year in which the 7-Litre was available as a separate model.
This model continues Automodello's expansion of 1:24 scale models into the post-War era. These fine quality resincast models set a new standard in fine resin models. Combining state of the art resin casting technology with old world craftsmanship, this new line was designed and developed by legendary automobile designer in real and miniature Raffi Minasian for Automodello. What better car to expand the Automodello AM24 collection after the inaugural release of the 1938 Phantom Corsair in February 2012. This model continues a collection that features some of the most elegant and revolutionary automobile designs of the twentieth century which includes the 1935 Duesenberg SJ Speedster Mormon Meteor, 1962 Ford Mustang I Concept and 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III.
Hand Painted automotive quality paint ensuring an enduring finish. The paint and trim are polished by hand resulting in an absolutely gorgeous show-winning finish. Interior materials are textured to accurate scale. Interior gauges are highly detailed. Carpeting is flocked to scale. Excellent fit on all seams. Raised chrome foil used on all emblems and lettering. Tail light lenses are replicated with tinted red lenses. World class finish throughout. Closed resin model (no openning hood) with rolling wheels.
